FAQ
Common questions, straight answers
The things people ask us about the Parkray Aspect Eco range, how the heaters are built, what it costs to run one, and how to make the most of yours.
What is the difference between the Aspect 5, 8 and 14 Eco?
The number is roughly the peak heat output in kilowatts. The Aspect 5 Eco suits up to 140 sqm, the Aspect 8 Eco up to 195 sqm, and the Aspect 14 Eco up to 220 sqm. The 5 is the smallest and most popular for typical living rooms, the 8 sits in the middle, and the 14 is for open-plan or larger homes. All three share the same Tripleburn combustion technology, the same Aussie-friendly clean-burn emissions, and the same warranty.
Where can I see one in person?
Visit any authorised Hunter Stoves dealer. Many have at least one Aspect on display, and several have one burning live so you can see the flame and feel the heat output before you commit. Use the dealer locator on this site to find the closest showroom.
How much does a stove and installation cost in total?
Heater pricing starts from $3,270 for the Aspect 5 Eco. Installation costs vary with your home, the flue run, and the state you live in. Most Aspect Eco installations land between $1,800 and $4,500 including a compliant flue system and certified install. Your local authorised dealer will provide a firm quote after assessing your space.
Where are Parkray heaters made?
Parkray is a British brand designed and engineered by Hunter Stoves Group in the United Kingdom since 1952. The Aspect Eco range is manufactured at Hunter Stoves' own factory in Thailand, using the same Parkray designs, engineering tolerances, and quality control. Every unit shipped to Australia is fully tested to AS/NZS 4012 and AS/NZS 4013.
What is the warranty?
The standard warranty is 10 years on the firebox, 3 years on parts, and 2 years on labour. To activate the warranty you need to register your stove via the product registration form within 30 days of installation. Full details on the warranty page.
How clean-burning are the Aspect Eco models?
All three Aspect Eco models comfortably beat Australia's current AS/NZS 4013 emissions standard, and they already meet the stricter 2030 target. The Aspect 5 emits 0.7 g/kg, the Aspect 8 emits 0.8 g/kg, and the Aspect 14 emits 0.9 g/kg, well under the 1.5 g/kg limit. The Tripleburn system draws air through three paths so combustion is more complete and most of the smoke is burned before it ever leaves the firebox.
Can I install one myself?
No. Wood heater installations in Australia must be carried out by a qualified, licensed installer to comply with the manufacturer's instructions, the relevant Australian Standards, and local council regulations. A DIY install will also void the warranty. Your authorised dealer arranges installation through a tradesperson trained on the Parkray range.
Do I need to register the warranty?
Yes. You activate the warranty by completing the online product registration form within 30 days of installation. The form takes about two minutes and is linked from the top of every page on this site. If you don't register, the standard manufacturer warranty still applies but the extended terms may not.
How long does a load of wood burn for?
Burn times depend on the load size, the air control setting, and the type of timber. As a guide, the Aspect 5 Eco delivers a comfortable evening burn from a single full load, and the Aspect 8 and 14 can stretch to 8 to 10 hours overnight on low air. Hardwood seasoned for at least 12 months gives the best results.
What is the best way to light a Parkray Aspect?
Use the top-down method. Lay 2 to 3 logs on the base with a small gap between each, then stack kindling on top in opposing layers, around 4 to 6 layers high. Place a firelighter on top, pull the air control fully out, and light. Lighting from the top lets the fire burn down cleanly into the wood below, with less smoke and a faster path to temperature. Once it is up to heat, ease the air control in to settle the burn. A small bed of ash left in the base actually helps the next light.
How do I control the fire?
With a single push-pull air control. Pull it fully out to light and for maximum heat, then push it in to reduce the air and slow the burn. As a rough guide, a quarter of the way in delivers about three quarters of the air, halfway delivers about half, and three quarters in delivers about a quarter. Set it where you prefer. More air burns the wood faster, and different timbers and moisture levels burn differently. The control adjusts the primary, secondary and tertiary air all at once, and the stove is deliberately never starved of air completely.
What kind of wood should I burn?
Dry, well-seasoned hardwood, ideally split and stacked under cover for at least 12 months so the moisture content is below 20%. Avoid green wood, treated timber, painted offcuts, or anything that has been chemically treated. Dry hardwood gives more heat, less smoke, and keeps the glass clean. Most authorised dealers can point you to a reputable local firewood supplier.
How do I clean the glass?
The Aspect Eco's airwash system keeps the glass largely self-cleaning during normal operation. For periodic clean-down, wait until the stove is cold, then wipe with a damp cloth or a dedicated stove-glass cleaner. Do not use abrasive scourers or oven cleaner. Burning dry hardwood at the manufacturer's recommended air settings makes a much bigger difference than any cleaning routine.
Do I need a service or chimney sweep?
An annual chimney sweep before each burning season is recommended, plus a quick check of door seals and the airwash system. Your local authorised dealer can either do the service themselves or refer you to a trusted chimney sweep in your area.
One of my firebricks has a hairline crack. Is that a problem?
No. The stove can still be used safely with clean cracks, where you cannot see the steel behind the brick. Firebricks are a consumable item that insulate and tune the burn, and they are easy and cost-effective to replace when the time comes. Your authorised dealer can supply replacement bricks for your model.
Does this site sell direct?
No. Hunter Stoves Australia is the wholesale distributor for the Parkray Aspect Eco range in Australia. All sales happen through our network of authorised dealers, who handle pricing, installation, warranty registration and ongoing service for you locally.
