Parkray Aspect 5, 8 and 14 Eco compared
The Parkray Aspect Eco range has three models: the Aspect 5, the Aspect 8 and the Aspect 14. They share the same design language and the same TripleBurn combustion system. They differ in size, output and how much room they are built to heat.
This guide puts the three side by side so you can shortlist without opening three separate pages. All figures come from the manufacturer’s specifications.

How to read the efficiency figures
Efficiency is where comparisons go wrong, because the same appliance has more than one number. Compare like with like.
Peak efficiency is the best result the heater reaches in testing: 72% for the Aspect 5, 77% for the Aspect 8 and 68% for the Aspect 14.
Average efficiency is the result across a whole burn cycle: 67% for the Aspect 5, 67% for the Aspect 8 and 63% for the Aspect 14.
Two points follow. The Aspect 8 has the highest peak efficiency of the three. The Aspect 5 and Aspect 8 share the same average efficiency. Do not set one model’s peak figure against another’s average. That tells you nothing.
All three models are tested to AS/NZS 4012 for efficiency and AS/NZS 4013 for emissions. Our guide to low emission wood heaters and the Australian standards explains what those numbers mean.
What the three have in common
Every Aspect Eco uses TripleBurn. Primary air enters through the base. Pre-heated secondary air runs down the glass as an airwash, which helps keep the view of the fire clear. Tertiary air enters through a rear bar and burns off the gases that remain. The result is a fuller burn from the same load of wood.
All three take a 6 inch flue. All three must be installed by a qualified installer to AS/NZS 2918. They are designed in Britain by Hunter Stoves Group, a lineage that traces back to the Park Foundry in 1850. The Parkray brand itself dates from 1952.
Aspect 5 Eco: the compact choice
The Aspect 5 Eco is the smallest of the three and the lightest, at 79kg. It has the lowest emissions figure in the range at 0.7g/kg, a peak output of 9.6kW and an average output of 6.6kW. The manufacturer’s guide is up to 140 sqm.
It suits a smaller or well-insulated home, a single living area, a cottage or an extension. The 400mm maximum log length is the shortest of the three, so you will cut or buy shorter logs. The 8 hour burn time covers an evening and a good part of the night.
If your room is modest and you want the lowest starting price, start here.
Aspect 8 Eco: the middle of the range
The Aspect 8 Eco has a peak output of 11.3kW and an average output of 8.1kW. Its peak efficiency of 77% is the highest of the three, and its average efficiency matches the Aspect 5 at 67%. Emissions are 0.8g/kg. The manufacturer’s guide is up to 195 sqm.
It takes 500mm logs and burns for up to 10 hours. At 105kg it needs a solid hearth and a sensible plan for getting it into the room.
It suits the most common Australian brief: a main living area, often open plan, in a home of average size. If you are between the Aspect 5 and the Aspect 14, this is the model to look at first. Our Aspect 8 and Aspect 14 comparison goes deeper on the upper end.
Aspect 14 Eco: the large-space model
The Aspect 14 Eco has the highest peak output at 14.1kW, an average output of 8kW and emissions of 0.9g/kg. Its efficiency figures are 68% at peak and 63% on average. The manufacturer’s guide is up to 220 sqm.
Its strengths are size rather than efficiency. It takes logs up to 540mm, so you can load whole lengths of firewood with less cutting. It burns for up to 12 hours. At 130kg it is the heaviest of the three.
It suits a large open-plan space, a high ceiling or a home that is hard to heat. It also suits anyone who wants a long overnight burn and a big firebox. Check the floor and hearth with your installer before you commit.
Choosing between neighbouring models
Most buyers end up torn between two adjacent models. These pointers help.
Aspect 5 or Aspect 8? The Aspect 8 gives you more output, a longer burn and larger logs, and it has the higher peak efficiency. The Aspect 5 is lighter, costs less and has the lower emissions figure. If your room sits near the top of the Aspect 5’s 140 sqm guide, or you want fewer reloads, step up to the Aspect 8.
Aspect 8 or Aspect 14? The Aspect 14 adds heating area, a 12 hour burn and room for 540mm logs. The Aspect 8 has the higher efficiency figures and costs less. Unless your space is large, open or high-ceilinged, the Aspect 8 is usually enough.
Whichever way you lean, weight and size also matter. Think about the hearth, the route into the room and where the flue will run before you fall for a model.
Heating area is a guide, not a promise
The “heats up to” figures are manufacturer guides. They are not guarantees. Real results depend on ceiling height, insulation, windows, layout and climate. Our sizing guide walks through each factor with a worked example.
Which one should you shortlist?
- Smaller or well-insulated space, lowest price: Aspect 5 Eco.
- Typical family living area, highest peak efficiency: Aspect 8 Eco.
- Large, open or high-ceilinged space, longest burn, biggest logs: Aspect 14 Eco.
